A curse was placed on him by a sage, turning him into a demon (Rakshasa). Both Lalit and Lalita were devastated. Seeking relief, Lalita wandered into the forest and met Sage Shring, who advised her to observe the Kamada Ekadashi Fast to free her husband.
She performed the fast with full devotion, and the power of her penance and prayers liberated Lalit from the curse. He regained his Gandharva from and both were reunited. The moral is: even a heinous curse can be removed by sincere devotion and observance of Kamada Ekadashi.
