Hariyali Teej story

Hariyali Teej is the day of reunion of Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati. According to religious tales, Goddess Parvati did severe penance to get Lord Shiva as her husband.

Mata Gauri was reincarnated as Parvati at the home of Giriraj Himalaya. Parvati, from the very beginning wanted to attain Lord Shiva as a husband and that is why she performed strict penance.

One day Narada Muni obtained consent from his father Himalaya to accept Lord Vishnu as Parvati's groom. On which Parvati became very disappointed and went into solitude.

She once again started with her penance in the dense forest. She made Shivlingam out of sand and started worshiping while fasting. Lord Shiva was very pleased with this penance and fulfilled her wish.

Shiva said in this story that any woman who performs this fast faithfully, I will fulfill the desires of her heart.
