During this incarnation, God not only established religion but also explained the importance of love to the world. The knowledge of Gita given to Arjuna in Kurukshetra is equally relevant in modern times in the compilation “Bhagwad Gita”.

Astrological significance of Janmashtmi
In scriptures there is a mention of 4 MAHARATRIS i.e. powerful nights for performing saadhna or spiritual practices and they are named as 'Shiv Ratri', 'Holi Ratri', 'Diwali ratri' and 'Janmashtmi ratri'.
The night of krishna janmashtami is said to support the activation of spells, tantra-mantra sidhis, totkas etc. Due to this reason tantriks, spiritual practitioners, aghoris, spell casters etc wait for this night to come.
General people can also attract the blessings by chanting Hare Krishna Hare Rama the whole of this night. This night is believed to be divine and magical and one can feel the divine blessings spread everywhere.
Janmashthmi Fasting
One should not consume any grain during the fasting on Krishna Janmashtami until the fast is broken on the next day after the sunrise. The rules are somewhat similar to the Ekadashi fasting. The devotees eat only once a day before this festival. On the fasting day, observe a long day fast and break it on the next day when both Rohini Nakshatra and Ashtami Tithi are over.
