Palm reading or Palmistry is an ancient occult science. This science of Palmistry is also known as Cheiromancy. This age-old occult science can be described as the art and science of foretelling the future and discovering oneself through a thorough examination of the palm. A very widely practised and followed science across globally. Therefore, there is some importance attached to learn this subject.
How different is Palmistry to that of Astrology?
A palm reading usually involves analysing the shape and texture of one’s hands, the formation of fingers, lines and markings on the palm and certain mounts on the palm. Through a study of these features, a good palmist will be able to describe clear facts regarding the past, present, character, career, marriage, impending dangers and much more.
On the other hand, astrology is a science of calculation of nine planets and twelve zodiac signs. These nine planets and twelve zodiac signs form the basis of future prediction and would need accurate details of Birth date, time and place of birth. In case, if these details are incorrect, then any prediction from there on will go hay wired.
But in the case of Palmistry, this is not the case.
So, does Palmistry deals only with prediction?
In fact, palmistry is not merely about prediction. It extends beyond prediction. By studying the lines and markings on one’s palm, an established and learned palmist will be able to make out an obvious link between one’s present personality and their past. Also, the behavioural pattern and notable incidents of an individual. With such an understanding of a native’s character, the palmist will be able to guide one towards making positive decisions regarding career, relationships, finance and your future in general.

1st Step: Deciphering the lines.
The 1st step is to choose a palm. Some basics while learning the basics. This basic awareness is very important since this will differentiate how to read the hands of a female and a male.
- For females, the right hand is what they are born with, and left is what one would accumulated throughout one’s life.
- For males, it is the other way around. The left hand is what one is born with, and the right is what one would accumulate throughout their life.
Step 2: Identify the four major lines.
While one would learn palmistry, the following four major lines should be identified first. They are: The heart line, The head line, The life line and the Fate line.
Step 3: Interpret the heart line. This line can be read in either direction (from the pinkie finger to the index finger or vice versa). The Heart line is believed to indicate emotional stability, romantic perspectives, depression, and cardiac health.
Step 4: Examine the head line. This line represents a person's learning style, communication approach, intellectualism, and thirst for knowledge. A curved line is associated with creativity and spontaneity, while a straight line is linked with practicality and a structured approach. Thus, with the difference, an established palmist can analyse the palm.
Step 5: Evaluate the life line. This line begins near the thumb and travels in an arc towards the wrist. It reflects physical health, general well-being, and major life changes (for example, cataclysmic events, physical injuries, and relocation). Now the length of this line is not associated with longitude of life.
Step 6: Study the fate line. This is also known as the line of destiny, and it indicates the degree to which a person's life is affected by external circumstances beyond their control. It begins at the base of the palm.
