Durga Puja is the most popular festival celebrated in entire parts of India, a ten days festivals with Hindu rituals performed for Goddess Durga. History says that Durga puja visits earth and stays for ten days with her family and returns back to her husband Shiva’s place on Dashami that is the tenth day. Auspicious ceremony is performed with rituals for the ten days, though the entire places of India are not been able to celebrate continuous for ten days, while few celebrate for the last 5 days as Panchami, Sasti, Saptami, Ashtami, Navami and Dashami, while few celebrate it for ten days respectively known as Chaitra Durga Puja and Navratri.

The Chaitra Navratri 2018 Date starts from 18th of March to 25th march where people performs rituals, prays and enjoys the gathering with the distribution of Prasad for ten days continuously.

March 18 on Sunday which is Pratipada, Ghatasthapana, Chandra Darshan and Shailputri Puja?

March 19 on Monday was Dwitiya, Sindhara Dooj and Brahmacharini Puja

March 20 on Tuesday the Tritiya, Gauri Teej, Saubhagya Teej as well as Chandraghanta Puja

March 21 on Wednesday the Chaturthi, Varad Vinayaka Chauth, Lakshmi Panchami and Kushmanda Puja

March 22 Thursday the Panchami, Naag Puja, Skanda Sashti ending with Skandamata Puja

March 23 Friday the Shashti starts with Yamuna Chhath and Katyayani Puja

Chaitra Navratri was worshipped by Lord Rama.

The Chaitra Navratri puja worshipped in honor of Goddess Durga where, Lord Rama when he was about to rescue her wife Sita from Lanka, trapped by Ravana and urged for her blessings to bring back Sita safely to her place defeating the mortal disciple of Lord Shiva. Rama crossed lots of hurdles to achieve the blessing of Durga, in this puja nine different divine avatars are worshipped with 108 blue Lotus but conspired and one rarely found blue lotus was taken way by Ravana, as he knew to fight against the strength of the ten avatars of Durga is impossible.

This Navratri 2018 festival also resemble the spring to summer known as Chaitra in Hinduism calendar. Did you know that there are four Navratri around the year but only two are gradually celebrated? Sharadiya Navratri is the most celebrated puja while people enjoy the most and it is believed that Devi Durga arrives in the earth to visit her parental home leaving Shiva for ten days and returns back after nine days on the day of Dashami. The idol is described as a story of the fight between the Mahishasur and Devi Durga finally defeating the devil and bringing back prosperity and happiness to the earth. Nine days of this puja is enjoyed to the fullest where people enjoy the rituals, dances as well as pandal hopping to watch the prettiest idol of Goddess Durga.

Dussehra is celebrated in this Durga puja as the victory of Lord Rama to defeat Ravana on this particular day the idol of Ravana is burned with fire resembling the beginning of goods days and end of the dark.

Chaitra Navratri foods are limited to vegetarian foods that too Sabudana Khichdi, a simple preparation or singaras, generally those which are light, rice and non vegetarians foods are strictly avoided but in the Sharadiya Durga Puja the moment of happiness and finally after the offered puja and anjali in empty stomach everyone can enjoy the non veg foods. But those who are in participating in pujas such as the purohits they prefer to stay bounded to fruits and light foods like khichdi but no rice.

Both the Durga Puja was started by Lord Rama, one to defeat Ravana and the later as the celebration of blessings and victory.
