The celebration of Navratri is very much special to every Hindu in India and abroad. All the nine days of celebration is dedicated to divine incarnation of the three Goddess namely: Durga, Laxmi and Saraswati. Therefore, it is believed any one offering worship to the three forms of Goddess then they are assured to remain blessed through out the year. Thus, the Navratri celebrated during the Hindu Month of Ashvin is given much importance. Since, the celebration starts from the Prathama tithi and shall last for 10 days. The 10th days is considered as Vijayadashami and this would end with Durga Puja, as customary practise.
Accordingly, the Navratri date and time 2024 is scheduled to be from 3rd October till 12th October 2024. Thus, during the Nine days of Navaratri the goddess is worshiped in various forms starting from the 1st day till the 9th day. The Nine Forms are: Shailputri, Bhrahmacharini, Chandraghanta, Kushmanda, Skandamata, Katyayani, Kaalratri, Mahagauri and Siddhatri.

Also, each day has a certain colour attached to the Navaratri. Thus, native do dress up in those colours to mark their participation in the celebration. Accordingly,
1st Day: is associated with colour Yellow.
2nd day: is associated with Green.
3rd day: is associated with Grey.
4rd day: is associated with Orange.
5th day: is associated with White.
6th day: is associated with Red.
7th day: is associated with Royal Blue.
8th day: is associated with Pink.
And finally
9th day :is associated with Purple.
Brahmacharini Mata:
Of the above on the 2nd days the goddess Durga is worshiped as Brahmacharini Mata. The form of Goddess Brahmacharini is extremely radiant and majestic. Maa Brahmacharini signifies love and loyalty, wisdom and knowledge. She holds a rosary in her Hight hand and a Kamandal in her left hand. She wears Rudraksha. The word “Brahm” refers to Tapa (penance) – Her name means “one who performs Tapa (penance)”.

Mythology on goddess Brahmacharini:
It is believed that Goddess Brahmacharini was born to King Himalaya. This was he immediate avatar after Mata Adi-Shakti gave her life as Sati, daughter to Prajapati Daksh. In fact, this incarnation of goddess Adi-Shakti, was taken to once again reunite with lord Shiva, after Prajapati Daksh refused to marry to two in her earlier avatar.
After getting the birth as Goddess Brahmacharini, Goddess Durga, was inspired to worship lord Shiva since her childhood. When Goddess reached the age of marriage, one day Devrishi Narada influenced her thoughts and as a result, she started to practise tough penances as she was determined to obtain Lord Shiva as her divine consort. She spent hundreds of years eating very little or nothing at all, but her penance was so pure and had so much strength, power that it caused great disturbance in all the three worlds. Her desire to obtain Lord Shiva as her divine consort was eventually fulfilled. Thus, on the 2nd day, any devotee how is able to please Goddess Brahmacharini, is assured to get their desired life partner, along with other material benefits.

Dadhānā kara padmābhyāma akṣamālā kamaṇḍalū |
