Swastik is a very important Hindu symbol & no Hindu religious ritual is complete without this symbol. Even in our towns and villages the Swastik sign is painted on walls. Every Hindu respects the symbol of prosperity and well-being.
It is symbol of good luck. ‘Swasti’ in Sankrit means may all be well with you. The sign is a sort of a sun mark. As we have already noticed Surya deva is everything to us. If he stops shining his light on us we will all perish.
Swastik contains the blessings of Hindu religion as it represents cosmic powers. It is considered highly auspicious and accepted as a combination of 4 important yantras i.e. Sriyantra, Mahamrityunjay Yantra, Baglamikhi Yantra and Ganapati Yantra therefore by wearing it all sorts of obstacles get eliminated, the native succeeds in overcoming his enemies, obtains lot of protection from misfortunes and enjoys all sorts of prosperity with spiritual progress and that is why rightly termed as symbol of good luck.
The four arms of Swastik stand for four main directions: North, South, East, West; the four Vedas: Rig, Sama, Yajur and Atharva; the four aims of human life called purusharthas in Sanskrit: Dharma, Arth (acquiring wealth); Kama (fulfilling desires); and finally Moksha (liberation from this earthly life.) And the four stages of life are called ashrams – Brahmacharya, Grahasth, Vanaprasth and Sannyas.
